Space launch is the earliest part of a flight that reaches space. Space launch involves liftoff, when a rocket or other space launch vehicle leaves the ground, floating ship or midair aircraft at the start of a flight. Liftoff is of two main types: rocket launch (the current conventional method), and non-rocket space launch (where other forms of propulsion are employed, including airbreathing jet engines or other kinds). Rocket launch is the only current way to reach space. In some cases an airbreathing (jet engine) first stage has been used as well.Non-rocket space launch is a launch into space where some or all of the needed speed and altitude are provided by something other than expendable rockets. A number of alternatives to expendable rockets have been proposed. In some systems such ...

The process of preparing the space shuttle for mating to a space shuttle carrier takes approximately one week. This video shows a time-lapse of what goes on during the preparation. The SCAs are used to ferry space shuttles from landing sites back to the Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center, and to and from other locations too distant for the orbiters to be delivered by ground transport. The orbiters are placed on top of the SCAs by Mate-Demate Devices, large gantry-like structures that hoist the orbiters off the ground for post-flight servicing, and then mate them with the SCAs for ferry flights. The aircraft was extensively modified by Boeing in 1976. Its cabin was stripped, mounting struts added, and the fuselage strengthened; vertical stabilizers were added to the tail to aid stability when the Orbiter was being carried. The avionics and engines were also upgraded, and an escape tunnel system similar to that used on Boeing's first 747 test flights was added. The flight crew escape tunnel system was later removed following the completion of the Approach and Landing Tests (ALT) due to concerns over possible engine ingestion of an escaping crew member. Flying with the additional drag and weight of the Orbiter imposes significant fuel and altitude penalties. The range is reduced to 1,000 nautical miles (1,850 km), compared to an unladen range of 5500 nautical miles (10,100 km), requiring an SCA to stop several times to refuel on a transcontinental flight. The SCA has an altitude ceiling of 15,000 feet and a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.6 with the orbiter attached. A crew of 170 takes a week to prepare the shuttle and SCA for flight.

Atlantis embarked on its 33rd and final mission, also the final mission of a space shuttle, STS-135, on 8 July 2011. STS-134 by Endeavour was expected to be the final flight before STS-135 was authorized in October 2010. STS-135 took advantage of the processing for the STS-335 Launch On Need mission that would have been necessary if STS-134's crew became stranded in orbit.[5] Atlantis landed for the final time at the Kennedy Space Center on 21 July 2011. By the end of its final mission, Atlantis had orbited the Earth a total of 4,848 times, traveling nearly 126,000,000 mi (203,000,000 km) or more than 525 times the distance from the Earth to the Moon. Atlantis is named after RV Atlantis, a two-masted sailing ship that operated as the primary research vessel for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from 1930 to 1966.[6]

Patreon : https://www.patreon.com/curiousdroid Paypal.me : https://www.paypal.me/curiousdroid You can now translate this and other curious droid videos, see my video about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLPVgIytKyg Well, there several issues but assuming we are in something like a normal jet airliner, then one of the main problems is the air, or lack of it as we get closer to space. A plane flies because as it is propelled forward, the wings, which are shaped to make the air flow faster over the top of them than the bottom, generate lift. As the plane goes faster the wings create more lift and when the lift is greater than the weight of the plane, it will climb up into the air. For our plane to continue to climb it needs more speed to increase the lift. If you throttle back on the speed a bit, the plane will settle in to level flight and if you decrease the speed the plane will start to fall as lift from the wings is not enough to overcome the weight of the plane. Jet Edge's UHP Waterjet Shuttle Systems increase productivity for shops with demanding throughput requirements. The waterjet shuttles allow operators to keep cutting even as parts are unloaded. These systems are ideal for water only cutting applications including foam, insulation, paper, rubber, foil, cardboard, wood fiber, fabrics, carpet, leather, food products and other soft materials. http://www.jetedge.com

Space Shuttle Landing Atlantis Nasa HD video. Space shuttle Atlantis and 7 astronauts ended an 11 day journey to space. The landing was at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida November 27, 2009. The mission was named STS-129. It included 3 spacewalks and the installation of two platforms to the International Space Station's truss aka backbone. The platforms hold large spare parts to hold the station operations after the shuttles are retired. The shuttle astronauts delivered 30,000 pounds of replacement parts for systems that provide power to the international space station to keep it from overheating and to maintain a proper orientation in space. Nasa said this is Space Shuttle Atlantis final landing. http://www.nasa.gov

I have seen 4 different Space Shuttles launch. I was 8 miles directly across the intercoastal waterway in Titusville, Florida, as close as you can get without getting on NASA's property. Each of the shuttles I saw launched and quickly rotated. Then, upon reaching a significant amount of altitude, they turn north and level out and fly straight north! Is there a clandestine base they are flying too? The Shuttles had three rocket motors and two jet engines. More about this on my website: http://www.JayMc.com/FlatEarth/index.htm

In some systems such as Skyhooks, rocket sled launch, and air launch, a rocket is used to reach orbit, but it is only part of the system.
